Michael Daniels
Michael Kaipo Daniels, 64, of Waimea, died Feb. 24, 2018, at his residence in Kailua-Kona. Born on Jan. 15, 1954, in Honolulu, he was a musical entertainer as well as a chef in Alaska.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. April 7 at Imiola Congregational Church on church row in Waimea. Service to begin at 10 a.m.; celebration of life to follow.
He is survived by his companion, Gretchen Lehrer of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Lalana Daniels of Las Vegas; son, Ian Kaipo Daniels of Las Vegas; sisters, Maile-Ann Zsupknik of Waimea; Pualani Daniels of Volcano; brother, Allen Daniels Sr. of Kailua-Kona; four grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew, four grandnephews and and grandniece.

Isaiah Pa Moreno
Isaiah Pomaikalani Pa Moreno, 19, of North Kohala, died at his home in Honolulu on March 22, 2018. Born and raised on the Big Island, he attended Kohala schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 2016. He was a talented tennis player, placing fourth in singles on the Big Island, sixteenth in the State of Hawaii 2016 Finals. He completed a year at Honolulu Community College, worked in restaurants and retail.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. April 7 at Kalahikiola Church, Iole St. Kapaau, Isaiah’s favorite nonprofits that support youth, www.life360network.org, and Kalahikiola Church for Island Breese’s Camp Lokahi.
He is survived by his mother, Melanie Moreno Kucharek (stepdad Bill); father, Brian Pa; brothers, Blake and Derek Moreno; stepsiblings Noah, Hailey Pa, Samantha Kucharek; grandmothers, Bobi Moreno and Patience Abraham; grandfather, John Moreno, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Duane Breithaupt
Duane “Sonny” Anthony Breithaupt, 54 of Waiohinu, died March 21, 2018, in Ka’u. Born in Pahala, he was a journeyman welder at Royal Hawaiian Orchards in Pahala. He was also active in the community as a coach of Ka’u Pop Warner Football.
There will be an all-night vigil at 6 p.m. April 6 at the family residence in Waiohinu off Mamalahoa Highway. Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. April 7 at Kauahaao Congregational Church in Waiohinu for a 10 a.m. service. Luncheon to follow.
He is survived by his life love, Marites “Tess” Castaneda of Waiohinu; sons, Devin “Bully” (Mona) Breithaupt of Waiohinu, Derwin Breithaupt of Kona, Darrin Jr. (Sharla) Enos of Kona; daughter, Staeci (Jayck) Breithaupt of Arizona; brothers, Glen Hashimoto Sr. of Ocean View, Vince (Monica) Hashimoto of Kona, Jesse (Melanie) Navarro of Ocean View, Blaine (Cristina) Navarro of Naalehu; sisters, Velma Kekoa of Hilo, Darlene “Lingis” Hashimoto of Na’alehu, Annie (Mahi) Navarro of Ocean View, Penney (Emma) Breithaupt of Waiohinu; nine grandchildren and numerous hanai brothers, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lucy Kawamoto
Lucy K. Kapule Kawamoto “Lady,” 85, of Honalo, died Feb. 12, 2018, in Kailua-Kona. Born at Kahauloaiki (Napoopoo), South Kona, on April 17, 1932, she was retired from the dietary section of the Kona Community Hospital, volunteered at the American Cancer Society and a member of the Kuakini Hawaiian Civic Club.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on April 7 at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Clubhouse at Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire. Flowers welcome.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Sylvia) Kawamoto of Kealakekua, Samuel (Karen) Kawamoto, Jr. of Kailua-Kona, Isaac Kawamoto of Waimea, and Bradd (Zahori) Kawamoto of Honalo; daughters, Lindalani (Dennis) Mock Chew of Kailua-Kona, Daisy (Ronald) Mitchell of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughters Jacqueline White of Edmonds, Wash., Margo Kawamoto of Waimea, and Vinel (Aaron) Sugino of Pepeekeo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, god-children, nieces and nephews.

Norma Samson
Norma “Nora” Verna Hocson Samson, 89, of Hilo, died March 30, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ola’a, she was a homemaker and volunteer with RSVP.

Charles Hose
Charles Chuckey Hose, of Kailua-Kona, died March 10, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Kealakekua on March 24, 1964, he was a rock wall builder.
Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. April 7 at Pukaana Congregational Church in Kealia for a 10:30 a.m. celebration of life.
He is survived by his brothers, Alexander (Mabel Astonomo) Hose of Kealia, Harry Hose of Miloii, Thomas (Jaydis Tavares) Hose of Honolulu, Roland Hose of Kealakekua, Edmund Hose of Arizona; sisters, Nancy (Wyatt Alani) Hose of Hookena, Lydia (Mario) Lopez and Lucy Hose, all of Kailua-Kona, Mildred Graham of Kealia; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clyde Saragosa
Clyde Saragosa, 75, of Hilo, died March 9, 2018, at home, surrounded by family and friends. Born on Oct. 6, 1942, in Olaa, he retired from Wildlife Management for the State of Hawaii and he also was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. April 5 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire requested; burial at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by son, Jon G. Saragosa of Hilo; daughter, Marianne Saragosa of Hilo; brothers, Charles Saragosa of Pahala and Albert (Lynell) Toralba, Jr. of Milolii; sisters, Betty Ann Fernandez of Ookala, Margie Carter of Kauai, Evonne (Cory) Seyers of Reno, Nevada, Molly (Roy) McRight of Kona, Hawaii and Mona (Delbert, Sr.) Costa of Laupahoehoe; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Naomi Laau
Naomi Keoho Kaiamakini Laau, 83, died March 15, 2018, at her residence. Born in Kalaoa, Kona, on Feb. 13, 1935, she was retired and previous part owner of Laau’s Fishing. She was in managerial positions at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Waiakea Villas. She was a member of the Kawaihae Canoe Club, belonged to the LDS faith and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Visitation will be held at 7 a.m. April 6 at Mana Christian Ohana Church at 67-1182 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea for a 9 a.m. funeral service. Noon burial will be at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona, followed by gathering at the Kawaihae Canoe Club. The family requests casual attire.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Tom Martinez) Laau-Silva of Kohala and Kanoe (Sam) Peck of Kawaihae; son, Robert McClure of San Diego; sisters, Kathleen (Clive) Fernandez of Kawaihae, Violet Salvador and Charlotte Dupre of Kohala, Emma Faisca of Kahua and Bertha Cabellero of Kawaihae; brother, Ronnie Alonzo of Hilo; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
